the marque

apollo automobil ltd succeeds the german marque, gumpert sportwagenmanufaktur gmbh. in 2009 the gumpert apollo sport ran 7:11.57 at the nordschleife, then among the quickest times recorded for a street-legal production car. insolvency followed. the rights were acquired in 2014; from 2016 the marque was reconstituted as apollo.
/ from a house that had ended, another begun.
apollo was not a revival, but an original foundation. name, machinery, and discipline drawn upon a blank sheet. within years, it took its place among the first rank of modern constructors.
/ aufrecht and hwa: an alliance forged in affalterbach.
presented in october 2017, the apollo ie was the inaugural work of the house: not an exercise in nostalgia, but an original foundation.
development was entrusted to affalterbach—hans werner aufrecht, the works at hwa, and the architects of the clk-gtr. ten chassis: commissioned, built, and delivered to the road.

march 2020. the house was sold to a listed company — among its holders, li ka shing, and former chief executive's family of macau. usd $153mm. the group now trades as the apollo future mobility group (860.hk).

final development and assembly at hwa, affalterbach — across the road from mercedes-amg, the house aufrecht had founded. all ten delivered.

the design

a body drawn for air, and for the load it must carry.
the volumes are deep, the lines continuous; a narrow greenhouse holds the proportion. the spine and the wing mounts are made to bear more than 1,350 kilograms of downforce.
